Oak - Bark Tannins
نویسنده
چکیده
1. The colorimetric method for estimation of acetoacetate by reaction with diazotizedp-nitroaniline has been adapted for measurements of oxaloacetate in amounts of 0 003-0 03 Htmole. 2. The steady-state level of oxaloacetate in the livers of normal and fasted rats was found to be about 4 umoles/100 g. dry wt. of tissue. The level was essentially unchanged in starvation when the level of acetoacetate increased tenfold.

Phenolic Extractives in Southern Red Oak Bark
The bark of southern red oak (Quercus falcala Michx. var. falcala) is a rich source of quercitrin (quercetin3-rhamnoside). It contains only low concentrations of (+ )-catechin and no significant amounts of epicatechin or gallocatechin. The three major dimeric proanthocyanidins present are epicatechin(4f,>8)-catechin, catechin-(4a>8)-catechin and the 3-gallate ester of epicatechin-( 4~>8)-catech...
متن کاملMALDI-TOF MS analysis of condensed tannins with potent antioxidant activity from the leaf, stem bark and root bark of Acacia confusa.
The structures of the condensed tannins from leaf, stem bark and root bark of Acacia confusa were characterized by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) analysis, and their antioxidant activities were measured using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging and ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. The results s...
متن کاملThe Effect of Tannins in Grape Pomace and Oak Leaf on the in vitro Organic Matter Digestibility and in situ Disappearance of Sheep
The effect of grape pomace (Vitis vinifera) and in oak leaf (Quercus libani) tannins by three runs of in vitro gas production on the organic matter digestibility (OMD) and in situ dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) disappearance were studied in four sheeps. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) was used to deactivate the tannins. In vitro gas production was recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 48, 72, 96 and 12...
متن کاملBloat Mitigation Potential of Plant Tannins and Yucca Extracts based on in Vitro Ruminal Fermentation and Methane Gas Production from Wheat Forage
Three commercial plant tannin and a yucca extract having different secondary compound profiles were simultaneously evaluated in vitro for their effects on ruminal methane gas production and rumen fermentation patterns of wheat forage. Overall objective was to quantify in vitro, the sources of tannins and dose levels of tannins and yucca extract on rate of gas production, ruminal fermentation, f...
متن کاملFirst Report of Stemonitis splendens Rostaf Causing Bark Decay of Oak Logs Used for Shiitake Cultivation in Korea
Severe bark decay disease was observed on oak logs at a shiitake cultivation farm in Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam province. The symptoms observed were fruiting bodies that had developed on the top and side surface of oak logs. As a result, the bark came off easily exposing the sapwood. Slime mold specimens collected from oak logs showed developing fruiting bodies comprising of stalks, hypothallus, c...
